YOGA INSTRUCTOR BIO
Nancy LaNasa began her yoga journey back in 1983 in NYC. She traveled to India in 1990 where she received her first certification to teach yoga from the Sivananda Ashram in Kerala. After a long apprenticeship at the Jivamukti Yoga School in NYC she became one of the first certified Jivamukti Yoga teachers in 1995. Moving to Pensacola in 1996 she taught classes in her dining room, the basement of the Unity Church, at the Awakenings bookstore in Gulf Breeze, Body Bizz gym on Cervantes St., through the continuing ed program of the Escambia County school system, UWF, at the yearly Earth Day festival, and wherever else she could pick up a class. She opened her yoga studio Abhaya Yoga Center in 2006, and closed it in 2013. She now teaches classes at Breathe Yoga and Wellness Center and at her little home studio Abhaya Above. Living in NYC with her husband Tom, a graduate of the School of Visual Arts there, gave Nancy a great appreciation for art in all its many forms. She is delighted to offer the opportunity to practice the art of yoga in the beautiful setting of the PMA.
