The 62nd annual Members' Juried Exhibition is an opportunity for artist members, at all levels of expertise, to submit their artwork for display at the Pensacola Museum of Art. This exhibition is anticipated annually and offers a unique glimpse into the talent and creativity of artists within our community and Northwest Florida.
All current Museum members may enter up to three pieces of original artwork for juror consideration - only one work by each artist will have the potential of being selected.
This year's juror is Dr. Kara Burns. Dr. Burns is an Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of South Alabama where she teaches courses the art, architecture, and archaeology of Greece, Etruria and Rome. She received her doctorate in History and Theory of Art with a specialization in Classical art and archaeology from the University of Arizona in 2012. In addition, she holds an M.A. in Art History from the University of Oregon and a B.A. in History from the University of Arizona. Dr. Burns has excavated in Tuscany and has conducted research at the University of Oxford, England, The Franklin University, Lugano, Switzerland, and the American Academy in Rome. Her main interests are in the ancient beliefs in the afterlife, ancient mystery cults, and Roman villas. Currently, she is preparing a book for publication in 2016 on the Orpheus mosaics of Southwest Britain.
